Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you have a brick and mortar storefront:
As of December 2017 Whidbey Island Natural closed its brick and mortar store in Langley, WA on Whidbey Island. After 18 years we decided to focus more directly on manufacturing our products for our wholesale sales and our internet site. We loved the retail location and had made many friends, but found our growing business made it more and more difficult to do both manufacturing and retail.

Good news is we are still on Whidbey Island making our great products! If you’re on Whidbey Island, you can still find our products in Langley at “Wish By the Sea” on first street. You can also find them at 3 Sisters market in Coupeville, and Purple Moon in Oak Harbor.

Is your Packaging Recyclable?

All of Whidbey Island Naturals packaging is recyclable. One of our goals is that we make as little impact upon the environment as possible. This means we only use recyclable materials to package our products in. Please recycle!

Are Your Products Vegan?:

All our liquid soaps and liquid shampoos are Vegan. All our other products may contain bee products or other non-Vegan ingredients.

Are Your Products Gluten Free?:

All of our Liquid Soaps and Liquid Shampoo’s are gluten free. Our Castile Soaps Bars, Honey Oatmeal Soap Bar, Facial Soap Bar and Shaving Soaps, Salves and Shampoo Bars do contain either wheat germ oil or some other form of nut oil.

What does “Castile” Mean?

In earlier times Castile soaps were made in the Castile province of Spain from olive oil and became synonyms with a pure olive oil based soap. Today, “Castile” has become associated with any soap that is made from natural oils only. In this case all of Whidbey Island Natural soap bars, liquid soaps and Shampoos are “Castile”. We take it a step further! Our “Castile” soaps, liquid soaps and shampoos are made from over 70-75% olive oil. Much closer to the original definition! We only use other oils to enhance the beneficial effects of olive oil soaps such as it's lathering and moisturizing abilities.

What is the shelf life of your products?:

Our products typically have a shelf life of three years. We recommend that you don’t keep them stored away and unused over a long period of time, due to the fact that they are a made from natural ingredients and will break down eventually. Fresh is best!

Are your products ok for babies?:

All of our Soaps, Liquid Soaps and Shampoos are gentle on the skin. But our soaps are not tear free! We ask that you be careful when switching to any new soap, liquid soap or shampoo and try them out carefully on your babies sensitive skin.

Can I use your soaps on my pets?:

Yes, our soaps and liquid soaps are pet safe. We recommend the Shampoos Bars for use on dogs and cats.

Do your soaps contain foaming agents or detergents like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate?

No, our soaps contain no foaming agents, detergents, or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. All of our products lather naturally.

Are your products cruelty free?

Absolutely! The only animals we tested our products on are our family members. I am happy to say that all of them are very satisfied with our products and how they work.

Will your products melt in warm weather?

Warm, no. Hot, Yes!!! Our products do not contain any unnatural stabilizers to keep them solid above 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. We use only natural beeswax to keep our balms and salves solid at room temperature.
